Rysshe apparently took possession of the manor and after his death his widow, Isabel, married Thomas Grey, and together they took the profits and refused to give up possession to the king. Nevertheless, in 1494 a court was held at Higham by Thomas Lovell, to whom Henry VII had committed the custody of Walthamstow Tony and Low Hall in 1488 and 1492, and in 1498 and 1499 the courts were held by the Crown. In 1503, however, Thomas Grey and Isabel conveyed the manor to William Heron, John Heron the elder, and his son John.

Notes: a Staffordshire Recusant. According to "The Antiquitees of Staffordshire " there is evidence that Christopher Heveningham and Dorothy were, at least, so near in blood, as to be married by dispensation from Rome. Was included in Bishop Bentham's list of Feb 1577/8, "of all such persons, gentlemen and others within the countye of Stafford which come not to the church to heare Divine Service". The Bishop estimates her yearly income from land at £40 and her total income at £433. We also learn that her son was taught by a certain Thomas Whistons and that she had a private chaplain, John Bradbury, and a servant Thomas Lawnder. All these, like herself, were doubtless papists. Christopher Heveningham died in 1573-4 and the date of his death was fortunate for his family, seeing that in 1575 Queen Elizabeth made her progress through the Midland Counties, and a few days after she had passed through Staffordshire, John Gifford of Chillington, Brian Fowler of St. Thomas, John Draycote, Erasmus Wolesley, two Erdeswicks and other "notorious papists" were summoned to appear before his Council at Worcester. In almost every case the results were disastrous to those summoned, and Christopher, had he survived, would certainly have been of the number. In 1581 the Privy Council mention her as one of "the most obstinate and daungerous Recusants" of Staffordshire, against whom tru bills should have been found by the Grand Jury; the jurors it is added are ordered to appear at the next Assizes and purge themselves of their contempt and offence done unto her Majesty failing which they are to be brought before their lordships of the Privy Council in the Star Chamber. In 1585, a letter from the Privy Council to the Commissioners of Recusancy at Elmenwych (27 Apr1585) orderd the confiscation of recusants' armour, including "Dorothee Heningham of Stone, wydowe". In 1586, Dorothy was in the grip of the Law. She states that her yearly income is £30, and offers to pay £10 a year for herself and her servant Catherine Comberford so that she and her land may be discharged of the penal statues present and to come againt Recusancy. Catherine Comberford was evidently a relation, for Dorothy's mother, Margaret, a daughter of Thomas Comberford of Comberford (near Tamworth).
