Margaret, dau. Henry Manning of Greenwich, by his wife Catherine Kirkener, bapt. 30 Nov 1559, "after yfi Queen's visitation". She was the fourth and last wife of Thomas Howard, Viscount Bindon, son of Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, and Elizabeth Stafford. Thomas and Margaret had no children. He died 28 Jan 1581/2 at Marnhull, Dorset.
She married secondly, probably ABT 1591, Sir Edmund Ludlow of Hill Deverill, in Wiltshire, who was knighted in 1601; he had 10 children by his first marriage with Bridget Coker, following children by Margaret: Henry, Edmund, Humphrey, Benjamin, Eleanor. He was involved in numerous lawsuits, and even in that litigious age he stood out for intractability in matters of money and property. He and Joshua Aylmer had some dealings and he was ordered by Henry, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, and Sir James Marvin, acting as arbitrators, to pay £300 to Aylmer. This was not done and in 1589, the Privy Council directed Pembroke to enforce the award.
He died Nov 1624 perl. P.M. by which his widow Margaret was to have the manor of Deverill for life; she was buried 14 Dec 1643 in the Maiden Bradley church where once was a shield of her arms.
